About the Organization

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a local non-governmental and humanitarian organization established in 2007. ESD works across six regions in Ethiopia—Amhara, Oromia, Sidama, South Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, and Benishangul-Gumuz—implementing integrated programs in:

Position Summary

The Procurement & Logistics Officer will oversee procurement, warehouse, asset, and fleet operations to ensure timely availability of goods and services, proper asset management, and compliance with organizational, donor, and government regulations.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Head Office
Reports To: Admin and Finance Head
Salary: Negotiable

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Management

  • Plan and manage procurement processes in line with budgets.
  • Prepare RFQs, ITBs, RFPs, bid analysis, purchase orders, and contracts.
  • Ensure transparent and competitive procurement practices.
  • Maintain updated supplier/vendor databases and conduct market assessments.
  • Liaise with suppliers for timely delivery and quality assurance.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Manage safe and efficient warehouse operations.
  • Ensure proper receipt, inspection, documentation, and issuance of stock.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and conduct regular physical counts.
  • Apply FIFO/FEFO principles and maintain safety standards.

Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate asset registers and tagging.
  • Track asset allocation, movement, and disposal processes.
  • Investigate and report asset loss or damage.

Fleet Management

  • Oversee daily fleet operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor logbooks, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance.
  • Ensure valid insurance, licenses, and compliance with fleet policies.
  • Supervise and train drivers.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to organizational, donor, and government regulations.
  • Prepare regular logistics reports.
  • Support audits with required documentation.
  • Coordinate with program, finance, and operations teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certification: Professional certification in Procurement/Supply Chain is an advantage.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in logistics, procurement, warehouse, or fleet management. NGO or donor-funded project experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of procurement and logistics procedures.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and coordination skills.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and logistics/ERP systems.
  • Strong communication skills in English (local language an asset).
