Position: WASH Officer
The WASH Officer will support PSI/Ethiopia’s Inline Chlorination (ILC) initiative under the WASH program. The role focuses on technical excellence, community engagement, SBC (Social & Behaviour Change), and strengthening woreda‑level WASH systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement inline chlorination systems at water sources and distribution points
- Ensure proper chlorination procedures and water safety standards
- Monitor chlorine residual levels and troubleshoot technical issues
- Conduct community education on water treatment & safe storage
- Co‑design SBC activities with the SBCC Coordinator
- Support development and dissemination of culturally appropriate IEC materials
- Lead community engagement sessions, meetings & trainings
- Train volunteers, health workers & woreda staff on SBC and ILC
- Maintain monitoring tools and track program indicators
- Conduct regular field visits and ensure implementation quality
- Analyse SBC and technical performance data with M&E teams
- Prepare reports, documentation & presentations for stakeholders
- Support capacity‑building for WUAs and woreda WASH structures
- Coordinate with government, NGOs & WASH actors at woreda level
- Represent PSI in community forums and coordination platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in WASH Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Science, or related fields
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience
- Experience in water quality, SBC, and/or M&E
- Knowledge of inline chlorination systems & water treatment
- Strong community engagement & communication skills
- Skilled in data collection, analysis & reporting
- Experience working with government water/health sectors
- Fluency in local languages
- Ability to work independently and travel frequently
- Strong conflict‑resolution and stakeholder‑coordination skills
