Job Summary
Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (VSF) is hiring a Regional Communications Officer to lead storytelling and media production efforts across the Horn of Africa.
The role focuses on documenting livestock-based livelihoods and humanitarian programs through photography, video production, and field interviews, transforming field experiences into compelling content for global audiences, partners, and donors.
This position is jointly implemented by VSF-Suisse and VSF-Germany, with equal (50/50) allocation of responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Field Storytelling & Documentation
- Travel regularly to project sites across the Horn of Africa
- Conduct interviews with community members, beneficiaries, and staff
- Capture authentic human-interest stories and testimonials
Photography & Video Production
- Produce high-quality photo and video content from field activities
- Edit and prepare multimedia content for communication platforms
Content Development
- Transform field materials into engaging stories and publications
- Develop content for websites, newsletters, and social media
Regional Communication Support
- Strengthen visibility of VSF programs in the region
- Support field teams in generating communication materials
- Ensure consistency and quality of communication outputs
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Production, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong experience in storytelling, interviews, and testimonial documentation
- Proven skills in photography, videography, and editing tools
- Excellent writing and content development skills
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities
- Fluency in English (additional languages are an advantage)
- Interest in international development, livestock systems, and humanitarian work
- Willingness to travel frequently within the Horn of Africa
