Job Summary

The Finance & Admin Assistant will support the financial health of the organization by assisting with finance and administrative procedures. Responsibilities include participating in audits, monitoring transactions, preparing invoices, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly reports to the Field Accountant by specified deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with Samaritan’s Purse field accounting policies
  • Review and verify accuracy of financial transactions (vouchers, FERs, cash advances, transfers, etc.)
  • Reconcile cash daily and report discrepancies to the Field Accountant
  • Administer cash advances to employees and partners, reconciling receipts and balances
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • File, scan, and archive financial documents securely
  • Maintain scanning equipment and ensure proper handling of sensitive documents
  • Compile, check, and properly file all financial records
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
  • 2–3 years of work experience, preferably with International NGOs and US Government awards

Language Requirements

  • Proficiency in English and Amharic
  • Knowledge of the regional language required
  • Knowledge of other national languages is a plus

Skills Required

  • Strong attention to detail, ethics, and integrity
  • Ability to handle high volumes of alerts with structured prioritization
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with commitment to Samaritan’s Purse values and ethics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • Flexibility in demanding situations and sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Willingness to travel at short notice, including in challenging circumstances

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regular sitting, frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Moderate noise levels, with possible exposure to loud environments in workshops
  • Travel within Ethiopia with exposure to communicable diseases and hot/humid conditions
  • Work in fluid security contexts
