About the Position
Save the Children is recruiting an FSL Officer for its Climate Smart Sustainable Livelihood for Women 2025–27 program in Tehuledere, South Wollo, Amhara Region.
The FSL Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation, monitoring and evaluation of food security and livelihoods activities in the targeted woreda. The role will work closely with the FSL Project Coordinator, government line ministries, communities, implementing partners and other project staff.
The position will also support beneficiary targeting, community engagement, distribution documentation, reporting and accountability for FSL results.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, follow up, monitor and evaluate FSL program activities in the project implementation area.
- Support day-to-day FSL activity implementation in the targeted woreda.
- Work with the FSL Project Coordinator, government line ministries and communities in planning and coordinating FSL activities.
- Ensure beneficiary selection procedures and criteria are properly followed by community mobilizers, representatives and committees.
- Ensure beneficiaries receive adequate information about project activities, plans, distribution dates and verification requirements.
- Collect and appropriately communicate feedback from beneficiaries and target communities.
- Provide regular progress reports to the FSL Coordinator.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly monitoring plans and contribute to quarterly and annual project reports and plans.
- Organize community meetings to raise awareness about the objectives and modalities of food security and livelihoods project components.
- Ensure beneficiary lists, master lists and other distribution-related documents are complete and accurate.
- Participate in and lead beneficiary selection according to established criteria.
- Work with implementing partners to monitor work quality and provide technical support.
- Liaise with the line manager, FSL Advisor and other Save the Children project staff as required.
- Ensure child-rights programming is incorporated into relevant project activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- BA/BSc degree in Agriculture, Livelihoods, Agronomy, Rural Development, Climate Change, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in livelihoods, natural resource management (NRM), disaster risk reduction (DRR), food security and/or food security interventions within NGOs or similar organizations in pastoral areas.
- Strong knowledge of Climate-Smart Agriculture practices.
- Experience in team management, coordination, community mobilization, planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring and reporting.
- Proven ability to manage a complex and demanding workload.
- Excellent report-writing and English-language skills.
- Good advocacy, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to train and mentor staff.
- Experience working with diverse international NGOs is an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural project areas.
- Knowledge of the local language.
