The origin of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia dates back to the establishment of the State Bank of Ethiopia in 1942. CBE was legally established as a share company in 1963. Since then, the Bank has played a significant role in supporting the economic and social development of the country.
Position: Social Risk Management Specialist
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
-
Master’s Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Socio-Economics, or other related social disciplines relevant to Environmental and Social Risk Management,
OR
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Socio-Economics, or other related social disciplines relevant to Environmental and Social Risk Management, with 7–9 years of general experience in social development management.
Required Experience and Skills
-
Proven experience in:
-
Public consultation and public hearings
-
Participatory research methods (observation, surveys)
-
Participatory rural and urban appraisal
-
Participatory poverty assessments
-
Participatory monitoring and evaluation
-
Grievance redress mechanisms
-
At least 5 years of specific experience in social safeguard and social risk management, including:
-
Physical and economic displacement
-
Rehabilitation and resettlement related to construction projects
-
Preparation and implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP)
-
Gender analysis
-
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with:
-
World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguard Policies
-
IFC Performance Standards
