Open Positions

1. Commercial Specialist (U.S. Citizen EFMs Only)

  • Salary: USD $61,323 per year (FP‑05, equivalent to FSN‑10)
  • Security Clearance: Top Secret required
  • Appointment Type: Family Member Appointment (FMA), not to exceed 5 years
  • Responsibilities:
    • Promote bilateral trade and U.S. investment in Ethiopia.
    • Support U.S. Government trade agencies not represented at post.
    • Coordinate reporting, outreach, and U.S. Government visits/events.
  • Qualifications:
    • BA in Economics, Business, Finance, Public Policy, or Statistics.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in economics, business, government, investment promotion, or international trade.
    • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian economic/political environment and global trade systems.
    • Excellent data analysis, communication, and computer skills.

2. Consular Assistant (General) – All Interested Applicants/All Sources

  • Salary: USD $11,806 per year (LE‑7)
  • Security Clearance: Public Trust – Background Investigation
  • Appointment Type: Permanent (subject to probation)
  • Responsibilities:
    • Handle Immigrant, Non‑Immigrant, Asylee/Refugee, fiancée, adoption, and Congressional correspondence.
    • Manage consular staff travel arrangements, correspondence, and databases.
    • Support consular events, visitors, and HR tracking.
    • Interpret during consular interviews and assist with IT systems.
  • Qualifications:
    • Completion of high school education.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in administration, government services, or para‑professional work.
    • Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken, reading, writing).
    • Knowledge of U.S. immigration law, USCIS regulations, and Ethiopian civil law.
    • Strong IT, database, and client service skills.
