UNHCR Ethiopia is recruiting skilled professionals to support facility maintenance, site planning, and operational services across its field offices.
Available Positions
1. Electrician (LICA 5) – Asosa
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, repair, and overhaul diesel generators and electrical appliances.
- Ensure safe operation of air-conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical systems.
- Apply UNHCR safety programs for power tools and installations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 2 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree + 1 year experience in Electrical Studies/Electronics/Electro-Mechanics.
- Knowledge of English and UN working language of duty station.
2. Electrician (GS4) – Melkadida
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair electrical installations.
- Oversee safe operation of electrical systems and appliances.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 1 year relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Studies/Electronics/Electro-Mechanics.
- English proficiency required.
3. Senior Building Services Assistant (GS5) – Melkadida
Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 2 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree + 1 year experience.
- Driving license required.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and UN administrative procedures.
4. Electrician (GS5) – Gambella
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, repair, and rebuild diesel generators and electrical appliances.
- Ensure safe operation of electrical systems and installations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 2 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree + 1 year experience in Electrical Studies/Electronics/Electro-Mechanics.
- English proficiency required.
5 & 6. Building Services Assistant (GS4) – Gambella
Responsibilities:
- Provide building services and support to internal customers.
- Assist with building maintenance, logistics, and procurement.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 1 year relevant experience.
- Driving license required.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and UN administrative procedures.
7. Building Services Associate (GS6) – Addis Ababa
Responsibilities:
- Oversee service requests and manage building maintenance.
- Supervise staff and coordinate procurement functions.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 3 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree + 2 years experience.
- Driving license required.
- Knowledge of UN administrative rules, Microsoft Office, and vendor management.
8. Site Planning Officer (PR3) – Addis Ababa
Responsibilities:
- Oversee settlement planning and infrastructure development.
- Guide specialist teams in emergency and protracted situations.
- Produce technical plans, specifications, and conduct training.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree + 6 years relevant experience, or Graduate degree + 5 years, or Doctorate + 4 years.
- Fields: Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Experience with GIS tools, technical drawing software, and humanitarian settlement planning.
