About Agriterra

Agriterra is an international non‑profit organization founded by the Dutch agricultural sector. It strengthens farmer organizations worldwide, believing they are the cornerstone of thriving rural communities. Since 2015, Agriterra Ethiopia has supported cooperatives, currently running projects such as Acting Now for Food Security and Resilient Systems, which aims to relieve acute food insecurity risks and improve incomes, productivity, and sustainable land management practices.


Role Overview

The Project & Finance Officer Intern will support financial and project management tasks under the Acting Now project. The role involves managing accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with finance policies, and assisting cooperatives with documentation and reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Record transactions and enter data into the system
  • Archive financial payment documents properly
  • Prepare payment vouchers for cash and cheque payments
  • Track payments to project clients
  • Follow up on contract signatures and file records
  • Collect financial data from cooperatives and farmers
  • Scan, upload, and archive finance‑related documents
  • Support payment processes for workshops, training, and meetings
  • Assist with per diem payments and settlements
  • Provide monthly reports and ensure partner data completeness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proactive, confident, and self‑motivated
  • Integrity and customer‑focused approach
  • Effective networking and relationship‑building skills
