About CARE Ethiopia

CARE Ethiopia is a humanitarian and development organization dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized communities, particularly women and girls. Through the L4R Project in Sidama Regional State, CARE works to challenge harmful gender and social norms, improve access to resources, and promote inclusive decision‑making for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.


Role Overview

This female‑only internship program empowers young graduates by providing mentoring, coaching, and hands‑on experience in gender and economic strengthening. The intern will support frontline staff in implementing gender‑responsive project activities and contribute to the integration of gender components across the L4R project.


Key Responsibilities

  • Gender Program Support: Assist in planning and implementing gender‑responsive activities.
  • Assessments & Training: Participate in gender/GBV assessments and training needs analysis.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Collate and analyze gender program data for reporting.
  • Capacity Building: Support training on VESA methodology, financial literacy, and women’s economic rights.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate equitable participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
  • Documentation: Prepare learning briefs, technical briefs, and maintain clear records of project activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Social Studies, or related fields.
  • Female fresh graduate (0–1 years of experience).
  • Strong written and verbal skills in Sidaamu Afoo and English.
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel).
  • Commitment to gender equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
