Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate #1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations. DCA works to improve the wellbeing of rural and pre-urban communities in Ethiopia, focusing on saving lives, building resilience, and fighting inequality. Its programmes target disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, and Gambella regions.


Position Objective

The Grant Reporting and Business Development Specialist ensures high-quality, timely, and compliant donor reporting across the country programme. The role provides technical leadership on donor compliance, strengthens reporting systems, and drives business development by leading proposal and concept note preparation.


Key Responsibilities

Purpose

  • Prepare and submit timely, high-quality donor reports (narrative and financial).
  • Ensure compliance with donor agreements, schedules, and guidelines.
  • Maintain grant tracking systems and consolidate inputs from programme teams/partners.
  • Document and share programme results and lessons learned.
  • Lead drafting of proposals and concept notes aligned with donor priorities.
  • Identify funding opportunities and strengthen business development practices.

Engagement

  • Coordinate with programme, finance, MEAL units, and partners to collect and validate reporting data.
  • Liaise with HQ (GPRM) to ensure compliance with global standards.
  • Maintain donor communication on reporting schedules and clarifications.
  • Support partners in strengthening reporting capacity.
  • Facilitate proposal and concept note development with consortia and partners.
  • Participate in project review meetings and coordination platforms.

Delivery

  • Document all reports, agreements, amendments, donor correspondence, proposals, and annexes in the DCA database.
  • Track and monitor reporting and proposal deadlines.
  • Organize and participate in project review meetings and programme discussions.
  • Lead and facilitate proposal development workshops and supporting documentation.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Business Administration, Development Studies, International Relations, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Specialization in Humanitarian Studies, Livelihoods & Food Security, or Climate Change & Development is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in grant management, donor reporting, or programme coordination within an INGO or international development organization.
  • Proven track record with institutional donors (USAID, EU, ECHO, BPRM, DANIDA, etc.).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Adequate knowledge of donor requirements and guidelines.
  • Strong proposal writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of project cycle management.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management, team coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in diverse cultural environments and manage workload effectively.
