Its Protection Unit (PXU) works closely with the Government of Ethiopia and partners to reduce protection risks and address the needs of vulnerable individuals, including children and adolescents exposed to violence, exploitation, abuse, neglect, trafficking, or family separation.
Position: Project Associate (Protection – GBV/CP)
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of protection, GBV, CP, legal, and MHPSS activities in compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements.
- Assist vulnerable migrants with access to shelter, healthcare, psychosocial support, and reintegration services.
- Coordinate referrals with government entities, civil society, and service providers.
- Conduct intake interviews, needs assessments, and risk evaluations for migrants in vulnerable situations (VoTs, UASC, GBV survivors).
- Collect and record accurate data using IOM’s case management system.
- Support logistics, procurement, and operational aspects of program implementation.
- Draft progress reports and facilitate information exchange with donors and stakeholders.
- Provide training sessions for staff, partners, and stakeholders on migrant protection, GBV, counter‑trafficking, and trauma‑informed care.
- Undertake duty travel to field locations as required.
Qualifications

Education:
- School diploma with 5 years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields with 3 years of relevant experience.

Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in protection roles, preferably focused on GBV/CP.
- Experience liaising with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, and victims of trafficking.
- Prior experience in humanitarian or development programming related to migration is an advantage.

Skills:
- Knowledge of migration‑related subject areas, case management, and community outreach.
- Strong interpersonal, cross‑cultural, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IOM protection standards.

Languages: Fluency in English required; working knowledge of Amharic desirable.
