MAG removes landmines and unexploded ordnance, enabling communities to safely use land and reducing the threat of armed violence by supporting governments in managing weapons and ammunition.

MAG was a co‑recipient of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its role in campaigning for the Anti‑Personnel Mine Ban Convention. In Ethiopia, MAG is establishing a country office to respond to explosive ordnance contamination, initially focusing on Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) and capacity support to national actors, with plans to expand into survey and clearance operations.


Position: Information Management Officer

Role Summary

The Information Management Officer (IMO) will provide day‑to‑day support to MAG Ethiopia’s operational teams throughout the information management lifecycle. The role involves data collection, quality assurance, analysis, mapping, and reporting, working closely with field teams, operational managers, and MAG’s HQ Programme Information Management Unit (PIMU).

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve MAG Ethiopia’s information management systems, GIS products, dashboards, and databases.
  • Support accurate data collection, quality assurance, and operational analysis.
  • Develop mapping products and dashboards to facilitate programme delivery and reporting.
  • Configure and manage mobile data collection tools (Survey123, Kobo, ODK).
  • Provide technical support for programme reporting and operational decision‑making.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field. Master’s degree desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in information management, GIS, database management, or data analysis. Experience in humanitarian, development, or mine action programmes desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS).
    • Experience with dashboards/web‑GIS (ArcGIS Online or similar).
    • Mobile data collection tools (Survey123, Kobo, ODK).
    • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Languages: Strong proficiency in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Amharic and Tigrinya highly desirable.
