About the Assistant Controller Role

The Assistant Controller will support a portfolio of approximately 5–6 clients, generally working with businesses ranging from less than $1 million to $10 million in revenue.

The position involves hands-on full-cycle accounting, account reconciliations, month-end closing, financial reporting, and client relationship management. Depending on the client assignment, the Assistant Controller may directly manage accounting and client relationships, supervise a Staff Accountant, or work with the firm's CFO on higher-level financial matters.

The position is suitable for experienced accounting professionals from both outsourced accounting environments and corporate accounting backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of clients and perform hands-on full-cycle accounting.
• Prepare financial statements and client reporting packages.
• Review account activity and investigate variances and discrepancies.
• Analyze financial results and identify trends and opportunities.
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned clients.
• Present financial results and explain key findings to clients.
• Review Staff Accountant work and provide guidance when needed.
• Perform hands-on accounting activities according to client requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Improve accounting processes, reporting procedures, and internal controls.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience working in complex accounting environments, including multiple entities, locations, or business units.
• Experience leading month-end closing processes.
• Experience preparing financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables.
• Ability to work remotely within the required ET or CT time-zone eligibility.
• Ability to work the stated 8:30 AM–5:00 PM ET, Monday–Friday schedule.

Salary and Benefits

Base Salary: $85,000–$90,000 USD per year.
