Purpose of the Role

The Finance Administrator – Treasury ensures compliance with SNV Ethiopia’s financial policies and government tax regulations. This role involves managing payments, filing tax returns, reconciling accounts, and supporting program managers with financial advice.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Compliance

  • Maintain books of accounts and ensure proper documentation.
  • File tax returns and facilitate timely tax payments.
  • Reconcile pending tax liabilities and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Deposit all cash collections daily into bank accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with SNV’s accounting policies and donor regulations.

Disbursement & Reconciliation

  • Verify documentation and authorization before processing payments.
  • Ensure supplier payments comply with procurement procedures.
  • Post invoices in SAP ByDesign (SBD) and link them to correct budget lines.
  • Prepare cheques or wire transfers once invoices are approved.
  • Manage monthly payments including salaries, taxes, pensions, and provident funds.
  • Audit and settle outstanding advances.

Learning & Improvement

  • Stay updated on government regulations and best practices.
  • Communicate finance policies within SNV and with stakeholders.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to treasury systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience (NGO sector preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and tax matters
  • Training in computerized accounting systems
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access; SAP ByDesign is an advantage
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Strong teamwork, service orientation, and efficiency
