About the Project

The Second Life Project strengthens solid waste management (SWM), circular economy approaches, and socio-economic inclusion in Dire Dawa. Activities are implemented in partnership with local authorities, TVET centers, and community stakeholders.

Position Overview

The Tutor / Training & Inclusion Officer will support project implementation in Dire Dawa, working closely with TVET centers, project partners, and beneficiaries. The role combines student tutoring, training coordination, and inclusion-focused activities to ensure high-quality vocational training and active engagement of beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities

Student Tutoring & Support

  • Provide direct tutoring and mentoring to TVET students.
  • Monitor progress of students and teachers, ensuring retention and engagement.
  • Offer counseling and guidance to address barriers to learning.

Training of Trainers (ToT) Coordination

  • Collaborate with international trainers to deliver ToT sessions.
  • Support local teachers in implementing cascade training models.
  • Supervise teaching quality to align with international standards.

Curriculum & Operational Support

  • Assist in developing and revising TVET curricula.
  • Provide operational support to TVET centers for smooth project delivery.

Inclusive Education & Infrastructure

  • Promote disability-friendly teaching approaches.
  • Oversee accessible infrastructure improvements in TVET centers.
  • Ensure inclusivity standards in training, workshops, and facilities.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • Master’s degree is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in education, TVET, or training projects.
  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with vulnerable youth.
  • Background in Training of Trainers (ToT), inclusive education, or socio-economic inclusion.
  • Knowledge of solid waste management or green skills is an advantage.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects (EU/AICS) preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of TVET systems and training methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sensitivity to gender and inclusion issues.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of Amharic and Afan Oromo is mandatory.

Salary & Benefits

  • Gross monthly salary: €520.67 (Grade 4 – Step 1).
  • Includes transport allowance, pension fund, and medical & life insurance.
  • Paid monthly via bank transfer.
