Position: Intern – Governance and Rule of Law

Objective

This internship provides graduate‑level students with direct exposure to UNDP’s regional work in governance, rule of law, and democratic institutions. Interns will gain practical experience in research, communications, and program support, while contributing to initiatives that strengthen governance and peacebuilding in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing communication materials (events, articles, social media).
  • Support research on governance, peacebuilding, and rule of law issues.
  • Provide administrative support, including media monitoring and record‑keeping.
  • Collect data and conduct literature reviews on topics such as human rights, transitional justice, electoral integrity, and civic engagement.
  • Document good practices and lessons learned from African countries.
  • Prepare summaries from events, roundtables, and missions.
  • Assist in organizing technical workshops and governance dialogues.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Governance, Peace & Security, Development Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Law, Human Rights, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in governance, peacebuilding, and rule of law.
  • Excellent communication, research, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English required; French desirable.
